It causes a disease called black mould on certain fruits and vegetables such as grapes, apricots, onions, and   eanuts, and is a common contaminant of food. It is ubiquitous in soil and is commonly reported from indoor environments, where its black colonies can be confused with those of Stachybotrys (species of which have also been called "black mould").  Some strains of A. niger have been reported to produce potent mycotoxins called ochratoxins; other sources disagree, claiming this report is based upon misidentification of the fungal species. Recent evidence suggests some true A. niger strains do produce ochratoxin A. It also produces the isoflavoneorobol. A. niger is included in Aspergillus subgenus Circumdati, section Nigri. The section Nigri includes 15 related black-spored species that may be confused with A.

Application of Aspergillus oryzae

From the vesicle extend long filaments called a conodial chain, which appear as long fluffy strands on the surface of the substrate. The spore-bearing cells, or asci, are produced within the ascocarp, or the fruiting body. The primary enzyme secreted by the filamentous fungi is called amylase, which lends a sweet taste to the food it is fermented into. MEDIA POTATO DEXTROSE AGAR (PDA)

Jual Aneka Media Mikroba 087731375234 Potato dextrose agar merupakan salah satu media yang baik digunakan untuk membiakkan suatu mikroorganisme, baik itu berupa cendawan/fungsi, bakteri, maupun sel mahluk hidup. Media PDA merupakan jenis media biakan dan memiliki bentuk/ konsistensi padat (solid). Potato dextrose agar merupakan paduan yang sesuai untuk menumbuhkan biakan (Winda, 2009). Media potato dextrose agar (PDA) berfungsi sebagai media kapang (jamur) dan khamir. Selain itu PDA digunakan untuk enumerasi yeast dan kapang dalam suatu sampel atau produk makanan. PDA mengandung sumber karbohidrat dalam jumlah cukup yaitu terdiri dari 20% ekstrak kentang dan 2% glukosa sehingga baik untuk pertumbuhan kapang dan khamir tetapi kurang baik untuk pertumbuhan bakteri. Komposisinya PDA berupa kentang (4 g/L (berasal dari 200 gr kentang)), dektrose (15 g/L) dan aquades 1L.
